Do your research and read reviews

⚠️ WARNING NOTE FOR PARENTS

When it comes to choosing the Driving instructor thats going to teach your child to drive being involved is very important, an instructor is responsible for your child’s safety, legality and driving future, it would be very wise to check they’re legit and dedicated to teaching safe driving for life?

Some parents wrongly choose a big well known Driving School and that can be a big mistake, as soon as anything goes wrong the big company won’t want to know and you’ll be told that you need to complain directly to the instructor and the big company will distance themselves.

Most of these big companies will take on any instructor they can because the more instructors they have, the more money they make. They certainly do not have better instructors and there are often no interviews to pass to work for a big driving school, if their instructors are so good then why don’t they have their own school?

The Instructors at the big driving schools will only get work because the big well know company spends many thousands on advertising and their big websites rank highly and not because of their own instructor skills.

All driving instructors are self employed and those working for big names are basically just renting a car with a logo on relying on the promise they will get work from the big companies advertising campaigns,

These instructors will very often overstretch themselves with work to pay their large school owners the high rental franchise fees they charge thus resulting in a very poor service, there are many bad reviews on these companies on independent review sites where learners are let down time and time again

Instructors such as myself mainly attract work through recommendations and reputation, there is no better way of choosing an instructor.

A driving instructor has many costs before they take a profit. If an instructor is charging a lot less than the average £27 an hour, how are they cutting costs? Budget tyres? Not attending courses? It doesn't bear thinking about.
Some instructors will offer a discount if you book several lessons at once, so ask upfront. However, it’s best not to buy a block straight away as you’ll want to be sure your happy with your instructor first.

There are not many ways to make learning to drive cheaper, but bear in mind that you’ll save money in the long run if your child has the RIGHT instructor who will teach them efficiently. A cheap instructor might be good now, but if it takes longer for your child to pass their test, it’s a false economy.
